The Malden Council on Aging has a Senior Center and a Transportation Program.
The Malden Senior Center provides programs, services, and activities for Malden seniors to enhance their quality of life. Exercise programs increase their flexibility to prevent injury, Education programs increase their knowledge and understanding to take control of their health care, while Entertainment programs increase socialization to decrease isolation. A wide variety of programs are created for the mind, body and spirit to help elders live longer, safer, and healthier in their own community. The Senior Center is currently located at 200 Pleasant Street, room 121, call 781-397-7144 for more information. The City of Malden has made a large investment for the senior residents with the purchase and renovation of the former Centre United Methodist Church on Washington Street. This will be the home of the new Malden Senior Community Center in the summer of 2008.
The Malden Council on Aging offers a FREE Transportation Program. There are two vehicles on the road 5 days a week. One van transports Malden seniors to and from physician’s offices in Malden, Medford, Melrose and Stoneham. The other mini-bus transports Malden seniors to local supermarkets and malls. The dispatch office can be reached by calling 781-324-0620. Appointments should be made several days in advance.
