FOR HOMEOWNERS AND RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES CONTAINING 6 UNITS OR FEWER, THE CITY WILL COLLECT:
-- up to 10 barrels or bags of trash per week. (Bags and barrels must be no more than 33 gallons and weigh no more than 50 lbs.); --one bulk item per week. (Bulk items are household items, excluding appliances, which cannot be contained in a trash bag. Examples include furniture, push lawn mowers, box springs and mattresses and grills);
--lawn waste, in appropriate paper bags, during spring and fall pick-up periods. (Information on lawn waste pick-up dates is available from the Department of Public Works.);
--debris resulting from home maintenance for which a building permit is not required, provided that it is not hazardous and is bundled as recommended by the Department of Public Works. (Contact the Department of Public Works at (781) 397-7160 to determine if debris is acceptable.);
--recyclables, provided that they are placed in an approved recycling bin.IF LABELED APPROPRIATELY, THE CITY WILL COLLECT:
--up to four more bags of trash in "pay to throw" bags;
--white goods or appliances.White good stickers (at a cost of $20) and "Pay to Throw" bags (at a cost of $2/bag) are available from the City Treasurer and the Department of Public Works. "Pay to Throw" bags are also available at selected stores in your neighborhood.
The City will NOT collect:
--more than 10 bags of trash per week;
--auto parts or machinery;
--hazardous materials;
--demolition/construction debris;
--dead domestic animals;
--tree limbs, trunks or roots that are more than 4 in. in diameter.FOR RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY CONTAINING 7 UNITS OR MORE The following options are available:
--Locate and screen a private dumpster. (For information, contact the Board of Health at (781) 397-7049.);
--Arrange private daily pick-up of trash. (For a list of private trash haulers, contact the Department of Public Works at (781) 397-7160.);
--Participate in the City's "Pay to Throw" Program, as follows:--The City will collect up to 14 "Pay to Throw" bags of trash per week. (In certain instances, the City will collect more than 14 bags per week. For information, contact the Department of Public Works.);
--"Pay to Throw" bags are available at a cost of $2/bag;
--"Pay to Throw" customers receive free recycling services from the City. (For information on recycling, contact the Department of Public Works.)
The "Pay to Throw" Program applies only to trash bags. The City will NOT collect white goods, appliances or bulk items from larger developments. For information on disposing of these items, call the Department of Public Works.
